One of the best parts of what I do is some of the One of the best parts of what I do is some of the people I meet. When chasing rights I spend hours combing through obituaries, probate records, gravestone photos, old articles etc trying to find living relatives of the author so I can find who can give permission to reprint the books. In doing so I've learned that authors kids are not afraid to walk to the beat of their own drum. . Dorothy Sanders was an Australian author who wrote The Randy, the story of a boy trying to establish how his friend died who gets caught up on the boats in WWII. His adventure extends from Australia to the US and the Pacific islands in between. . Getting permission to reprint this one was a long process as the rights were jointly owned by her two sons, and one of them was always off circumnavigating the world, even in his 80's. When I saw this headline in The Guardian there was no doubt who it was! I found the read fascinating. I hope you will too. So many great memories are made in a little bit of So many great memories are made in a little bit of water. Who else has wonderful memories of building a dam in a stream? It's great watching my boys do this (and joining in!). I'm sure this is something kids have done since time began. . We managed to get away up to my mum's farm for a few days. It's been a great escape, but I'm looking forward to getting back into all the exciting things planned for 2021. First is my new website. It's so close. I have a stack of books ready to release, but I don't want to complicate migrating all my data to the new site so I'm holding off until that's done. I could use digital images to release and show it to you, but that feels like lying. Things can look quite different, resolution that's fine digital can look awful printed so I try to make sure I take photos to show the book as it is, even if that means a frustrating wait! . The final book is also currently being printed and should be sent to me tomorrow, rest to be released next week, as well as the full set. . In the meantime here's a few of today's eggs. A few of our young chickens have just started laying. Getting little fairy eggs isn't uncommon, but I've never had any that look like this before! The one on the right is a normal egg for comparison. Often the fairy eggs only contains the white, sometimes just a tiny little bit of yolk. They're rather cute, I think so at least.

This is the fifth of what will be seven volumes and is available in both soft and hard cover. I've been really enjoying working on these, and my boys have been picking them up to look through themselves which is really exciting. . I was hoping to have the last two done by now, they're each about 70% of the way, but we're flooded and our phone lines have been out for a few days now which makes finding and adding images rather tricky. If I take a while to respond to anything that's the reason. I have a spot with a little mobile reception at the moment but it never lasts long. . The last two volumes are Insects, and Earth and Sky.
