Living Book Press bundles include both PDF and (when available) ePub files. Each family uses these differently—some prefer the fixed, print-style layout of PDFs, while others enjoy the adjustable text of ePubs on e-readers or phones.
Below is a simple guide to help you load each format onto the device you’re using.
PDF Files
Computers (Windows & Mac)
PDFs open naturally on any computer:
- Windows: open with Adobe Reader, Edge, or your preferred PDF viewer.
- Mac: open with Preview, Books, or Adobe Reader.
To organise your library, feel free to move the files into your preferred folder, reading app, or cloud service.
iPad and iPhone (Apple Books)
- Download the PDF.
- Tap Share → Books.
- The PDF is added to your library and synced across your Apple devices (if iCloud Books is on).
PDFs display beautifully on larger iPads for read-alouds or morning lessons.
Android Tablets & Phones
- Download the PDF.
- Open it with Google Play Books, Adobe Acrobat, or any preferred reading app.
- In Google Play Books, you can enable PDF uploading in settings to store files in your Books library.
Kindle Devices (PDF)
PDFs can be used on Kindle, though text does not reflow.
To send a PDF to your Kindle:
- Use Amazon’s Send to Kindle feature (app or website).
- Email the PDF to your Kindle address.
- Or drag-and-drop it through the Kindle app on your computer.
ePub Files
Apple Books (iPhone, iPad, Mac)
- Download the ePub.
- Tap Share → Books (iPhone/iPad), or double-click an ePub on a Mac.
- The book appears instantly in your library with adjustable text.
Android (Google Play Books, Kobo, Moon+ Reader, etc.)
Google Play Books:
- Download the ePub.
- Visit play.google.com/books/uploads or open Google Play Books.
- Upload the ePub—it syncs to all devices.
Other popular Android apps:
Kobo, Moon+ Reader, PocketBook, ReadEra—all support ePub directly. Just open the file and choose your preferred app.
Kobo E-Readers
- Connect your Kobo to your computer.
- Drag the ePub into the Kobo eReader storage.
- Eject, and the book will appear in your library automatically.
Kobo provides an excellent reflowable reading experience for our ePub titles.
Kindle Devices (ePub through Send to Kindle)
All modern Kindle models now accept ePub through Send to Kindle.
To send an ePub:
- Use the Send to Kindle app (mobile or desktop)
or - Email the ePub to your Kindle address
or - Upload it at send.amazon.com
Amazon automatically converts it into Kindle format for easy reading.
(Note: sideloading the raw ePub file directly onto the Kindle storage won’t work—Send to Kindle is required.)
Which Format Should You Choose?
Choose PDF if you want:
- The exact layout of the print book
- Full-page illustrations exactly in place
- The best experience for read-alouds or shared screens
- Easy single-page printing
Choose ePub if you want:
- Adjustable text size
- The best experience on phones, Kindles, and smaller tablets
- Lightweight files for travelling
- A clean, flowing reading experience
Most families end up using both, depending on the book and the situation.
