Looking Back on 2025, and Ahead to 2026
I can’t believe it’s already the end of another year. 2025 was a big year at Living Book Press. Thanks to my amazing team, we released a large number of new titles, and thanks to feedback from the wider book community, we made a number of adjustments to make life even easier for our readers.
As the door closes on another year, I thought it would be a good time to look back on what we’ve been working on, and to share a little of what’s planned for 2026.
Over the past year, much of our focus has been on finishing books that were partly complete, maintaining more regular releases, and improving the overall quality and usability of our catalogue. Almost all of the changes we made came directly from reader feedback, and I’m deeply grateful to everyone who took the time to tell us what worked, what didn’t, and what would help them use our books and website more easily.
Over the past year, we’ve:
- Updated our cover templates, and applied these changes to almost all previously published titles, to eliminate an issue where the back cover could bleed into the spine. This helps the books look better on the shelf.
- Added EPUB formats for all appropriate books released in 2025, while also working through earlier releases so readers have more options for how they read.
- Added and expanded curriculum groupings on the website to make browsing and discovery simpler.
- Added and standardised basic metadata for our digital files, making them easier to organise, search, and manage in ebook libraries.
- Simplified and standardised how Digital December functions, making downloads and file organisation clearer and more consistent, and allowing updates to be distributed more easily.
- Continued careful proofreading and review, with our proofreaders collectively reading almost 10.5 million words this year.
We aren’t only interested in adding new titles; we’re equally committed to improving what already exists, in an ongoing effort to make using living books easier for every family.
Looking ahead to 2026, we have several improvements planned, including:
- Adding reading age guidance to all books.
- Adding historical time periods and geographical locations to help families more easily find books that suit their needs.
- Continuing to catch up and expand EPUB availability across the back catalogue.
- Introducing MP3 downloads for selected audiobooks, making them easier to use across different devices and situations.
Almost everything we do is shaped by how families actually use the books, and by the thoughtful feedback you share with us. Thank you for being part of the Living Book Press community, and for allowing us to do this work.
Wishing you all a wonderful 2026,
Anthony
