Description
Myles Falworth is only a child when he is hurried away to a monastery, his fatherโthe blind Lord of Falworthโbranded a traitor and hunted by the ambitious Earl of Alban. To reclaim his heritage and clear his father’s name, Myles must leave his childhood behind and endure the grueling discipline of Devlen Castle. There, amidst the clash of broadswords and the strict hierarchy of the squirehood, he learns that becoming a “man of iron” is not merely about physical prowess, but about the unyielding strength of a noble soul.
Set in the vibrant and dangerous world of 15th-century England, Men of Iron is Howard Pyleโs quintessential “living” story of perseverance and nobility. Through the eyes of Myles, readers witness the transformation of a raw youth into a knight of impeccable character, forged in the fires of adversity. Adorned with Pyleโs own iconic artwork, this edition captures the rugged reality of the medieval age, inviting a new generation to discover that the most powerful weapon in any age is a heart that refuses to bend to injustice.

I bought and read Men of Iron to prepare for my son’s 3rd year in Ambleside Online. I can’t wait for him to read about Myles Falworth’s journey to manhood. I love that it’s a story about fortitude and friendship with a rich, historical background.

I really enjoyed this book by Pyle. And so did my son in year 7. It takes us back to medieval times and the training that a boy must go through to become a knight. But this boy is not only training to serve his Lord but also to be able to challenge the man who disgraced his father. An excellent story written in the beautiful language Pyle is known for.
