This was a fun way to learn more about gold mining! The book does explain the e gold standard which provided a great opportunity to discuss that change with my kids. I loved how the book included the family also visiting the mint in DC, sort of bringing the gold and silver full circle from mining to usage. I will purchase other books from this series based on the quality and our enjoyment of this one. We ended our study by visiting a gold mine in Georgia. Living books + real life experiences = homeschool success!
